Jakarta – Candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto utilized the closing statement moment in the last presidential debate to call for unity and apologize to other candidates.
He said that during the campaign period for the 2024 presidential elections, national unity and unity were affected. Therefore, Prabowo, representing candidate number 2 and the Indonesian Forward Coalition (KIM), apologized to candidates 1 and 3, if there were any unpleasant things during this campaign.
“Brothers and sisters of the nation and the homeland, we have just, for the past few months, carried out a campaign full of spirit, full of competition, and sometimes full of harsh words. But, our intentions are good, I think the 3 candidates all want the best for the people of Indonesia,” said Prabowo in his closing statement at the fifth presidential debate for the 2024 presidential elections held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, on Sunday (4/2).
“I, on behalf of Prabowo-Gibran and on behalf of the Indonesian Forward Coalition, apologize to candidate 1, Mr. Anies-Mr. Muhaimin; and candidate 3, Mr. Ganjar and Mr. Mahfud, if there were any words or actions from us that were unpleasant during this campaign. We apologize sincerely,” continued Prabowo, who then followed with a gesture of bowing by Gibran.
In essence, Prabowo’s struggle, as he mentioned, aims to provide the best for the nation and the people of Indonesia. He then reaffirmed that they are all brothers and urged all elements and components of the nation to always maintain unity, especially harmony among the leaders of Indonesia.
“All of you, the important thing is that we must build and uphold harmony, unity, and kinship among all elements and sections of the Indonesian nation, especially harmony among the leaders of Indonesia. I consider Mas Anies, Mas Muhaimin, Mas Ganjar, Prof Mahfud as my own brothers. We fight for Indonesia, we fight because of our love for the people of Indonesia,” he said.
Prabowo also expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Indonesian nation, from the first president to the seventh president of the Republic of Indonesia. All of Indonesia’s leaders, he added, are the best sons and daughters of the nation who have preserved this country.
“We are grateful to all the leaders of Indonesia, all the presidents of Indonesia, Bung Karno, Pak Harto, Pak Habibie, Gus Dur, Mrs. Megawati, Mr. SBY, and Mr. Joko Widodo. They are the best sons and daughters of the Indonesian nation,” said Prabowo.
In line with what has already been done by the leaders of Indonesia, Prabowo then committed to continue that struggle and become a leader for all the people of Indonesia. With his team, Prabowo is determined to eliminate poverty, hunger, corruption, and malnutrition in Indonesia.
“If Prabowo-Gibran and the Indonesian Forward Coalition, with the permission of God Almighty, accept the mandate from the people, we will become national leaders for all the people of Indonesia. I will be a president for all the people of Indonesia, including those who did not vote for me, including those who do not believe in me. I will fight for all the people of Indonesia,” he concluded.
